FOUNDER STORY

IMG_8994.jpeg

City Cycling Guide is based in Boise, Idaho but seeks to showcase cities around the country. I launched City Cycling Guide in 2025 after a career in bicycle advocacy, planning, and program management in different cities. Through my experience working for government agencies and advocacy organizations, and spending my free time traveling and exploring cities by bike,  I was inspired by the opportunity to start my own business focused on promoting the positive aspects of communities, helping people discover great bicycling routes and city culture, and making it easier for people to choose bicycling as a fun, healthy, affordable way of getting around.

My professional career has been dedicated to active transportation – after receiving a master's in Urban Planning from the University of Washington, I worked for Cascade Bicycle Club (Cascade) as a Planner, and then moved to Fort Collins where I managed the city’s Bicycle Program for nearly 8 years. My husband, dog, and I later moved back to my home town Boise where I managed a Transportation program called Commuteride and then the Mobility & Public Spaces Program for the City of Boise. I am a League of American Bicyclists certified League Cycling Instructor, equipping me with the skills to teach about bicycling and safety. I am passionate about traveling, exploring cities by bike, finding off-the-beaten path routes that often lead to a great local brewery, and experiencing the unique destinations within each city. Bringing this passion to others is what I hope City Cycling Guide can accomplish.
